Saddle-less bridge install

Writer: Michael BoufordMichael Bouford

A customer wanted a custom saddleless bridge installed on his bass guitar. As the 2 bridges weren't the same size or bolt pattern this would require filling the old bolt holes.

The bridge was removed, the old bolt holes were drilled out yo enlarge and clean them up. Plugs were cut from maple with a similar grain pattern and were glued into the fresh holes.

A flush cut saw and a very sharp chisle was used to get the plugs flush to the surface and then finished to try to blend in to the finish.

The new bridge was located using string and installed, then the intonation and action was adjusted.

The customer was happy with the end results.
